China-Spec Toyota Camry vs. GCC/Global Spec: What Are the Key Differences?
Importing a China-market Toyota Camry? Compare it with GCC and global-spec Camrys: powertrains, trims, infotainment, connected services, emissions, warranty and what to check before you order.

The China-spec and GCC-spec Toyota Camry are the same ninth-generation (XV80) car underneath, but they are not interchangeable products. The China-market Camry is built by GAC Toyota in Guangzhou for Chinese buyers, with its own trim list, infotainment ecosystem, emissions certification and warranty. Before you import one, you need to know which differences matter in your market and which do not.
Is the China-market Camry the same car as the GCC Camry?
Mechanically they are very close: both use the XV80 body on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform. The China-market car is 4,915 mm long (4,950 mm on sport-kit trims), 1,840 mm wide and 1,450 mm high, on a 2,825 mm wheelbase, with MacPherson front and double-wishbone rear suspension and front-wheel drive. The differences are in powertrain choice, equipment and software rather than in the core structure.
What powertrains does the China-spec Camry offer?
China is one of the few markets that still offers three powertrains on the current Camry. Figures below are from the China-market specification sheets.
| Powertrain | Engine | System output | Transmission | WLTC combined |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2.0L petrol | M20C, 173 PS / 206 N·m | 173 PS | CVT (simulated 10-speed) | 5.81–6.29 L/100 km |
| 2.0L hybrid | M20F, 152 PS + 83 kW motor | 197 PS (145 kW) | E-CVT | 4.2–4.5 L/100 km |
| 2.5L hybrid | A25D, 185 PS + 100 kW motor | 230 PS (169 kW) | E-CVT | 4.55 L/100 km |
GCC and other export markets typically receive a narrower powertrain line-up. If your buyers specifically want a petrol Camry or an efficient 2.0L hybrid, the China-market range may give you options the local distributor does not. Confirm the current local line-up with your distributor, as it changes by model year.
How does infotainment differ?
This is the difference buyers notice first. The 2027 China-market Camry uses a 15.6-inch touchscreen on a Snapdragon 8155P chip; 2024–2026 cars use 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch screens. The software is built for China: the voice assistant, maps, app store and connected services are designed around Chinese-language use and Chinese online services.
- Apple CarPlay, HUAWEI HiCar and Carlink phone mirroring are listed on China-market trims, so drivers can use their own phone’s navigation.
- Built-in navigation maps and the online app store may have limited use outside China.
- The remote-control phone app and 4G connected services depend on Chinese mobile networks and accounts; do not sell them to end customers as working features abroad.
- Ask us before ordering if you need a particular interface language; we tell you what is possible for the units you are buying.
Are emissions and fuel requirements different?
China-market Camrys are certified to the China VI emissions standard and specified for 92 RON (China standard) fuel or higher. Check that local fuel quality meets that requirement, and confirm with your homologation or clearing agent whether China VI documentation is accepted or whether additional testing is required in your country.
What about climate, lighting and safety equipment?
Every China-market Camry in our catalogue has automatic climate control, LED headlamps with adaptive high beam, Toyota Safety Sense with full-speed adaptive cruise control, front, side, curtain and driver-knee airbags, and electronic stability control. Hot-climate buyers should discuss air-conditioning expectations with us; the car is not a dedicated GCC hot-climate specification.
Does the manufacturer warranty transfer?
The China-market Camry carries a 3-year or 100,000 km manufacturer warranty in China, and hybrid batteries have a separate China-market policy for first private owners. Do not assume either transfers to an exported vehicle. Plan parts and after-sales support with your local workshop network, and discuss it with our team before you order.
